Rustic, stone-like troughs and garden art handmade from paper.
Over half of the paper created in the United States every year is used once, then sent to a landfill. To put that in perspective, that is 720 million trees worth of paper!
Papercrete is an innovative way to keep some of that paper out of the landfill, and turn it into something beautiful that will last for years in your garden!
We carry a number of different papercrete items - all hand crafted and available exclusively in Iowa at In The Country Garden & Gifts.
Papercrete troughs resemble planters made from stone. Available in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors, these troughs are lighter weight, but just as durable as troughs made of hyper-tufa. Smaller papercrete troughs make excellent containers for succulents and fairy gardens, while larger troughs are ideal for creating landscapes of alpine plants and dwarf conifers.
Papercrete can easily be formed into an endless variety of projects. From snowmen to mushrooms, these unique creations make thoughtful gifts and whimsical features in any garden.
We often host workshops where gardeners can learn the papercrete recipe and make their own trough. Join our email newsletter to be notified of upcoming events or contact us to schedule a private workshop for your group.
