In the past I have purchased only H. 'Deep Blue Sea' from Sea Made Hostas, but what a plant it is! For a tc plant that was supposed to be relatively slow to increase, it has done very, very well. This year I've ordered one of the harder to get Mildred Seaver cultivars.

The Sea Made Hostas 1998 catalog is a three-page listing of specialty plants grouped in four categories: hostas by Charlie Seaver (12), hostas by Mildred Seaver (24), streaked pod parents (8), and pollen parents (3). If you want H. 'Striped Canvas' (streaked), H. 'Tentacles', H. 'Deep Blue Sea', H. 'Smiling Sailor', H. 'Sailor's Warning' (streaked), H. 'Crow's Nest', H. 'Spinnaker', H. 'Starboard Light', H. 'Diane Gray Dalton' (streaked), H. 'Imperial Moth' (streaked) or H. 'Komodo Dragon' this is a good place to get them if you act quickly.

Prices are appropriate for originator's stock. Except for H. 'Deep Blue Sea', which has been tissue cultured, all of the plants offered are mature divisions. H. 'Sailor's Warning' is $300. Many of the more common Mildred Seaver hybrids are being 'discontinued' and are priced accordingly. H. 'Sea Fire', H. 'Sea Mist', and H. 'Don Stevens' are each just $15. Checks must accompany the order; no credit cards are accepted. Those who tarry are likely to be disappointed. Plants are shipped for arrival on or about the date requested.

Hostas are shipped bareroot and arrive in excellent condition. This is clearly a specialty supplier, but if you want Seaver hostas (and who doesn't) this is the best, sometimes the only, place to get them.
