Hosta Names Humor

My last set of hosta photos came in from my fall efforts to record the autumn beauty. I was inspired to rename several. Since one or two themes emerged I would like to share them.

Salt Lick Tattered Glory Riches To Rags Joan Of Arc Funkias Folly Lace Curtains Midnight Snack Holely Night Cheese Cloth , Apocalypse Now, and Nightmare.

I have about 30 hostas which I first started 6 years ago. I seem to pick 5 or 6 a year and let them grown in hopes of... I have now 3 which I genuinely like but have yet to name. The others I never seem to have a problem naming...and it is good therapy. Almost as good as gardening. I will offer them up for your review. I try to find a name which says it all, but I will offer a couple of characteristics to help you visualize them.

Nemesis.......has had major slug damage every year and this year what I expect is nematodes. It also burns. Why do I keep it? Am a hope junkie

Fried Tripe.... One of the ugliest textures in a hosta I have ever seen in a 5 year old hosta.

Charming Billy.... You like it when you first see it but it looses it's charm.

Fool's Gold..... The 4 years I have had it it has changed to a new yellow each year. I have measured this change on a color chart the last two years.

Zombie Power.... A 4 leafed "white" leafed hosta that has survived 2 years now.

Broken Heart....This says it all. As a teenager it was great and now in maturity.........

Good Old Two Leaf.... 2 years and has produced 2 leaves.

Psycho..... Don't ask.

Pond Scum.... A very special texture.

Linda Trip.... A floppy leafed plant that has to be supported with wires

Silk Schroud.... The thinnest leaf imagineable. I saw a Lady Bug fall through it.

Ken Star......Avery rapid grower coming up all over the place. Stoliniferous. Very expensive to maintain.

Sweet and Sour....great blossoms, really ugly ordinary leaves.

Demon Spawn........ all those thorns.....
