Is anyone else still eating leftovers? Hopefully everyone had a great, safe Thanksgiving and is recovering from eating too much!
Not much is happening in the garden right now. It is all brown and dead looking…except for the hostas that are starting to grow again. Silly things…they’ll get frosted, of course, but they should survive ok in the long run.
Last Friday I sent in my order for Victoria water lily seeds. I tried a few last year and they sprouted fine, but they never made it past the temperamental toddler stage. I’ve picked up a few new culture techniques since then, so hopefully I’ll have better luck this go around. If you are interested in Victorias or are wondering what the heck they are, check out this great new website by a couple friends of mine: Victoria Adventure. Kit and Ben are still tweaking it, but it is destined to become the definitive online resource for Victoria water lilies.
I spent quite a bit of time over the last few days working on the website. I’m trying to beef up the content so there are more articles for surfers to read. I started a new section called Plant Profiles on the Pond Articles page. This will contain detailed culture guidelines for specific water plants. I have articles on Water Hyacinths and Water Lettuce up now (I know, they grow like weeds, but some people really do have trouble getting them to grow. If this is you, check them out…). I have a long list of other plants I want to add eventually…hopefully I’ll do this on a regular basis.
I also started a section called Hot Off The Press. We’ve been fortunate enough to be featured in some of the local newspapers and this is where I’ll put those articles for you to read. This will give you an opportunity to see what other people have said about us and not just read what I say
. I have quite a few clippings I’ll type up to put there…I have to find them first, though. We are currently featured in Water Creation’s Pond Street Journal. As soon as the put the December issue up on their website, I’ll post it.
