Hosta Volcano Island

[M] From Marco Fransen's mad scientist hosta lab comes this explosive, tetraploid form of 'Paradise Island'. The rounded, lightly puckered and cupped leaves emerge in the spring like glowing hot, yellow lava. The black-green margin is somewhat irregular and lighter green streaks occasional jump into the yellow center. The heavy foliage of Hosta 'Volcano Island' is held at the end of deep red petioles. The yellow darkens to chartreuse by late summer, when the mound spews forth deep red scapes of fertile purple flowers. PPAF
