Hosta Tonoko Tachi

Product Description

[M] Typical gardeners are not going to give this plant a second glance, but your inner hosta geek will find it intriguing. This Hosta rectifolia strain is native to sunny areas in northern Japan, which makes it more sun tolerant than other H. rectifolia selections. The green foliage is of good substance and somewhat glossy. What makes this H. rectifolia selection so unusual is the white leaf backs and the moderate puckering the wavy foliage develops at maturity. Hosta 'Tonoko Tachi' quickly forms a somewhat upright clump about 19" high and 32" across that blooms in late summer with pretty bell-shaped, purple flowers. Could be an interesting plant for hybridizers to play with. Sometimes this plant is called Hosta rectifolia pruinosa.
