Hosta Midnight Oil - NEW!

Product Description

[M] Bev and Dave Stegeman have developed some exceptional hostas, but this has been one of their most coveted. Serious hosta collectors have paid well over $100 the few times it has been offered at auction. 'Midnight Oil' resulted from crossing 'Potomac Pride' x 'Neat Splash Rim'. The rounded, gently cupped leaves are lightly dimpled and such a deep, glossy green they look like they are covered in wet motor oil. Leaf substance is good, which helps the plant hold up well all summer. Hosta 'Midnight Oil' forms a fairly upright clump about 15" tall and 28" across that blooms in the summer with fertile, lavender flowers. A striking contrast against brighter, flashier hostas in the garden.

(B. & D. Stegeman - 2004)
