Hosta Riptide - NEW!

Product Description

[L] A plant ahead of the times, 'Riptide' remains among the largest of the red petiole hostas today, over 30 years after it was registered. As often happens to these older plants, they become harder and harder to find, but we are happy to bring this one back. Rounded, heavy leaves are quite blue in the spring, before turning more gray-green by early summer. As the plant matures, the foliage develops moderate corrugation and gentle ripples along the leaf margins. Red petioles hold the leaves and red scapes hold lavender flowers in dense clusters in late summer. Hosta 'Riptide' forms a 20" tall by 40" wide mound. A good parent plant, but easier as a pollen parent than a pod parent.
