A note about hosta liners... Liners are baby hostas. They are grown in 1" cells and the foliage stands 2-4" tall. They are small, but with just a little TLC they will grow into beautiful plants. You can plant liners directly into your garden, if you are diligent about keeping the soil moist. Otherwise, you can pot up liners into a 4-6" pot and grow them for 4-6 weeks before planting them in your garden in the fall. After frost kills the foliage, a 2-3" layer of mulch will keep your baby hostas snug over winter.
